Pianoforte Music School!
Popular Music entered the PIANOFORTE stage in 2017, and has reached the top list of the most wanted departments!
Guitar, violin, keyboards, drums and percussions, vocals… all have been sounding in PIANOFORTE for quite a while, and when a student would play a popular tune in our classical music concerts, that would be the real icing on the cake!
There we are, in 2017/’18 the day has come for our young rock stars to grow up and become independent: they have built their own music department, on their own floor in the school!
The classical department can play rock,
the pop-rock lives it!
The genre preference is more than a matter of taste! It is a choice, a lifestyle, and good company. Pop department? Rock department? Popular genre? Definitions are countless.
According to Pete Seeger, pop music is “professional music which draws upon both folk music and fine arts music”.
According to us, at PIANOFORTE, pop/rock music is a free-standing art, with its own image, its own approach to work.
The rock musicians stick together! They rehearse, get together, and listen to the songs they play when they go out and on the radio. They arrange their songs and explore their lines to bring an even better sound to the band!

Their concerts are parties, their stage is a club
December 2023. The coffee shops and clubs operate “reservation only” New-year’s get-togethers of the businesses, schools, and social gatherings are the thing of the month. And, where is the most joyful one?
Yes, the Music Bands of the Pop Music Department are throwing an After-work party for their parents and teachers, but mainly for their friends!
The good old classics played (and sung) by our rockstars sound equally fresh for the adults and the new teenagers.
Parents proudly hold their phones up and film their child on stage, while revoking those romantic feelings from the outings in their youth.
Outdoors: the youth, the peers who are having the times of their lives, all proud of being friends with the main stars on stage! Teachers and colleagues from the other departments share some after-work parties, proud of their colleagues and students for becoming rock stars.
This very same image is already a tradition and a well-anticipated event of the Popular music department at Pianoforte Music School.
It is such a pleasure to experience and celebrate the fruits of dedication!

PIANOFORTE Pop/Rock Band lessons offer and deliver essential life skills in a fun and engaging surrounding
We might like to sing as if nobody is listening, yet when we sing along to those we hold most dear, our souls join in.
The group classes for our bands are part of the Popular Music department. It is open to various music genres, yet somehow the instruments in the band lead us to playing predominantly pop/rock music.
Our music school is located in Skopje and offers tutoring in a variety of musical styles based on one’s personal musical preference. The programs are delivered through classes held by exceptional music educators with great performing and teaching experience.
We design lessons for any age, skill level, and interest while giving opportunities for students to receive what we believe in many essential LIFE SKILLS that will help them in their future life journey.
These are some of the life skill highlights that we believe are learned during our group lesson:
- Music takes COMMUNICATION and builds up CONFIDENCE
- Playing in a band is like playing a sport when it comes to how essential it is to communicate with your teammates while becoming an integral element of the whole

Music is a CREATIVE form of expression
Our students in “Pianoforte” music school are continuously challenged to think, create, and explore as one in a safe, nurturing and supportive atmosphere.
Playing in a band is the best way we know to get kids to deal with the fact that playing an instrument and singing in tune isn’t always easy.
A band helps each musician define the exact skills they need to be a better musician and gives them a clear goal and motivation, putting more effort for what to practice at home.
The purpose is in the practice
We at “Pianoforte” have made a new insanely FUN way of playing music. What could be more fun than jamming and playing with your peers and friends?
There is a strange positive contribution of knowing you are an integral element as a member of a team! It gives purpose, meaning and MOTIVATION to your musical educational journey since you don’t want to let down your peers.
We at “Pianoforte” music school say, the band rehearsal “gives purpose to the practice”. In our experience, students come prepared for class and are highly motivated to learn their songs when they come to band classes, ready for the upcoming musical challenges.
The rehearsals and home practice become the goal within itself, being only one more step in the journey.

Why a musical instrument at the earliest age of children?

There are numerous researches in the world about the role of music in the development of the youngest, which indicates exceptional results in children.
Playing an instrument directly affects the development of motor skills and concentration. Very often we meet children who have a hard time handling precise finger movements up to the age of 8. Playing an instrument is preceded by numerous games for awakening fine motor skills. Then those exercises continue on the instrument in an attempt to master the appropriate skills by creating cultivated sounds. Concentration is one of the most common elements that we should pay a lot of attention to. We have witnessed how our youngest spend their free time. My experience shows that today’s children can hardly keep their attention on one activity for a long time. Through playing an instrument we create an exceptional habit of building and developing concentration for the process.
We trace the path to success
In the process of overcoming difficulties, challenges and barriers in life lies the feeling of happiness and success. That perseverance and tenacity to overcome a certain difficulty is learned from an early age and is very visible in learning to play the piano or any other instrument.
As a long-time piano teacher, I face the challenge of showing a child that there is nothing that cannot be mastered with enough effort and perseverance. Usually, at the first barrier in playing, most of the children say “I can’t”. The greatness of a good teacher is to find a way to show the child that he/she CAN – every time and without exception with a little more effort and persistence. The greatest gift for me is when I see a big smile on the child’s face at the moment when the child realizes that he/she can solve something that was difficult and problematic until a little while ago and master it. And that’s how every child who plays an instrument learns every day about life, and gradually we pave the way to success. That’s why parents, help them overcome, and become a stronger person, persevere and thus he/she will have the opportunity to become a successful and satisfied person.
